Chlorination Without Continually Adding CYA
Nexus uses Poolife Cal Hypo chlorine chemistry. Unlike stabilized Trichlor chlorine, Cal Hypo does not continually add cyanuric acid to the pool as it chlorinates.
Why that matters
Cyanuric acid is important in outdoor pools, but repeatedly using
stabilized chlorine can continue raising CYA over time.
Cal Hypo gives pool owners another way to chlorinate without
continually increasing stabilizer.

Does Nexus completely eliminate pool water testing?
No. Automated water care can greatly reduce day-to-day chemical
adjustment, but we still recommend periodic professional water
testing to verify overall water balance, stabilizer, calcium
hardness and other important parameters.
Does Nexus use traditional chlorine tablets?
Nexus uses Poolife Cal Hypo chlorine chemistry rather than
traditional stabilized Trichlor tablets. One important advantage
of Cal Hypo is that it does not continually add cyanuric acid to
the water during chlorination.
Can Nexus control pH too?
Yes. Nexus is designed to automate both chlorination and pH
management as part of its residential water-care system.
Can Nexus be installed on an existing pool?
Many existing pools may be candidates for Nexus. Plumbing,
equipment-pad space and the existing circulation system should be
reviewed before installation. Contact Cavanaugh and we can help
determine whether your pool is a good fit.
Is Nexus only for large pools?
Nexus is designed for residential pool applications. The right
configuration depends on the pool, equipment and operating
conditions, so we recommend speaking with Cavanaugh before
purchasing.
Will I still need other pool chemicals?
Yes. Chlorine and pH are only part of proper water balance.
Parameters such as alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid,
phosphates and other water conditions may still need occasional
testing and adjustment.
